Recordings of webinars

Well, I never expected so much interest in my webinars but thank you for the wonderful feedback.

Michelle from New Jersey Boys and Girls Club (amongst others) asked me if recordings of the webinar would be available for non-attendees.  Well, they will be, for a tiny admin fee when I launch my new website (oh the irony!) However, in the meantime, you can book me for a specific webinar based on your charity.

The Importance of Landing Pages in Digital Charity Fundraising

Interaction is vital for all charity fundraising online at some point.
We can have the best strategy, the best ads, copy, creative or offer. But unless the potential donor can interact we can't do much about it.
This interaction could be offline, for example we ask them to call or SMS us.  But often it will be online.
If it is online it needs then we are lucky in a few ways. It is quick. It allows for capturing of information in a format ideal for our database. We can set up automatic responses. And it allows for near instant financial transactions.
The tactics we are using could be driving the potential donor to donate now, or give details for follow up.  But either way, a great tool for capturing details is a landing page.
A landing or donation page in this context is a specific 'website' of just one (or sometimes two) pages.   Often temporary, these landing pages should be specific to the campaign, easy to use, secure and motivating.
Landing/donation pages perform the same job as a direct mail or press ad response coupon.  To increase form completion we knew the importance of affirming the decision to complete these forms.  Just like in the olden days 'YES! I would like to help starving children in Biafra ...' we need our landing pages to do the same.
This petition landing page follows the theme of the material that led the potential donor to it, and it reinforces their decision to complete.
PS. Here is an example of a really good landing page. In my webinar I will explain exactly why.

Getting your landing page right

Next month I am presenting a free webinar on landing pages.  It was specifically requested after my 'Three Secrets to Fundraising from Facebook' webinar.  Details of times - which span the whole world - are at the bottom of this blog.

We all know we should be using our webpages, emails and more to point people to a place to donate online.

But we also know that every click, every distraction, every time something isn't right, we lose a small percentage of donors.

From when people click 'donate now' we want them to complete their donation.

Below are a few of my favourites, that make it easy to donate.  And below them are the links to the webinar sign up pages.

Here's an idea - donate to them all and follow the communications trail! You learn lots and cheaper than a consultant...

If you want to point readers and me towards a great landing page, put it into the comments and if I like it I will donate to it at least!

Splash (USA), great but provides 'escape routes' (I will explain escape routes in my webinar).

IFAW Save Baby Elephants, uses ability to get more text, AND allows me to share my action on Facebook

UNICEF Australia, cracking website, donation page makes up for escape routes by being brilliant at everything else.  Love how as you type in your donation it adds fields rather than scare you away.

Macmillan UK, very donor centric. Escape routes are an annoying norm on otherwise great donation pages.

CBM Germany, the pop-up donation page is very clear and no distractions.  If you read German!

More to add?

Sean
