This is useful for those who don't have any idea how to write a thank you letter. For example, one donor could have given $500k, which kind of ruins it (whilst reinforcing the anecdotes).

Also, you say. 'Extra' thank you. Does that mean that both groups got a normal asking thank you, and one group got an additional non-asking thank you?

If one group got nothing, the other got the non asking thank you, then the question is 'would we have raised more with a beautiful thank you letter - that still had an ask?'

Sean'Sean is always learning'https://www.blogger.com/profile/09913608962533588338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-941230432085823637.post-10642403157261701272013-11-11T23:53:35.492+11:002013-11-11T23:53:35.492+11:00Sean.... There is a bit of tantalizing data from F...Sean.... There is a bit of tantalizing data from Food for the Poor, a faith-based charity in the US that feeds the hungry in Central and South America. ED Angel Aloma did a test. In January, he sent an extra "thank you" to half his list of current donors. There was no ask, just a thank you saying ... well, thank you for being the compassionate, loving, etc. person you've shown yourself to be. Fast forward 12 months. The number of gifts from the test group that GOT the extra thank you was NO different than from the group that did not get it. But, wait, there's more: the test group that got the extra thank you gave a half million dollars more than the non-extra-thank-you group during the same period. So while the extra thank you did NOT increase the frequency of giving, it did improve the LTV by fostering larger gifts. Delicious, hey?Tom Ahernhttp://www.aherncomm.comnoreply@blogger.com
